Seleucid Empire Flag (312–63 BCE)
The Seleucid Empire flag during the Hellenistic rule over Persia (312–63 BCE).
The Seleucid Empire Flag (312–63 BCE) is commonly associated with Greek-Hellenistic symbols, often featuring a silver or blue background with a royal anchor, Greek inscriptions, or the sun emblem. The Seleucid dynasty, founded by Seleucus I Nicator, ruled much of Persia after the fragmentation of Alexander the Great’s empire. The anchor symbol was a royal emblem representing maritime strength, divine favor, and military dominance. While no standardized state flag existed, Seleucid banners often included Greek military symbols, thunderbolts, and depictions of Zeus, signifying their connection to both Macedonian and Persian traditions.
