Pahlavi Iran Flag (1925–1979)
The Pahlavi Iran flag (1925–1979) maintained the green, white, and red tricolor with the Lion and Sun emblem at its center. This flag symbolized Persian heritage, monarchy, and national identity until the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
The Pahlavi flag, used from 1925 to 1979, continued the Persian tradition of the green, white, and red tricolor. At its center was the Lion and Sun emblem, a symbol deeply rooted in Persian history, representing power, monarchy, and the connection between the state and the people. The lion, standing with a sword, signified strength and protection, while the sun behind it reflected enlightenment and continuity with Iran’s past. This version of the flag was a modern adaptation of earlier designs but remained a strong national symbol throughout the Pahlavi dynasty's reign. It was officially replaced in 1979 following the Iranian Revolution.
